The Sardinia Radio Telescope is the new radio telescope with a diameter of 64 meters thanks to its active surface – composed by more than 1100 actuators – that allows to operate in the 3-mm band, is the largest and most modern instrument of its kind in Europe and second in the world, exceeded only from the Green Bank Telescope in Virginia, USA (around 100 meters in diameter).
Excellent also for simplicity and speed of frequency change, the SRT – operating at full capacity in 2015 – at European and world level, it is technically a major contribution to space science.
